USA, six long days under friendly fire

The one that took place this week in the United States is one of the most violent days of riots in the history of this world power.

“The National Guard has been released in Minneapolis to do the job that the Democrat Mayor couldn’t do. Should have been used 2 days ago & there would not have been damage & Police Headquarters would not have been taken over & ruined. Great job by the National Guard. ¡No games!”: is the only thing said by President Donald Trump in the last hours.

The trigger, an apparent act of routine plicial carried out in Minneapolis by ex-officer Derek Cahuvin, ended in the death by suffocation of the African-American citizen, George Floyd, before the gaze and participation of three other police officers, but before the most inescapable of all, the of the smartphone cameras that captured the scene from different angles and that today go around the world.

It would not have occurred to anyone that this abominable act could be translated, in just days, into the bloodiest social confrontation in a country, which despite dealing with the heaviest burden of the coronavirus worldwide, which leaves more than 100,000 dead and close to 40 million new unemployed, it continues to show good indicators in its economy.

But what the world has been able to witness in these last hours, in which there are no limits in strength, from side to side, is that a contained unrest has exploded here, perhaps for years, in a country where apparently inequality grows so faster than progress, as a recent report on German television speaks of 43 million poor people in the United States, who do not even have a fixed ceiling to live on.

Vandalism surfaces

Obviously, the vandals are the first to do their own thing, following the trends that since the end of last year began to make a career in several Latin American countries, such as: Chile, Venezuela and Colombia, where the “flag” of social protest served as a pretext for the excessive destruction of public property and looting of shops and stores was one of the characteristics.

In the case of the United States, several videos and images that are shared in this chronicle, different brands and businesses are targets of the action of uncontrolled vandals infiltrated in the protests.

Two sides, a single socio-racial discontent

At nightfall yesterday, the United States was experiencing a true Saturday night fever, but not under the joy of celebrating the weekend, but under the fire of the uncontrolled protesters, the club and the police and Guard tear gas National, as well as the decisions of governors and mayors who had to resort to curfews, as a last resort to contain the uncontrolled masses.
